Banner ads are available on the online news pages of our site in the sizes below. Ads are sold by space (not by impression) and will run on all news pages (ROS/Run of Site).

  • Accepted File Formats: GIF, JPG, PNG
  • Maximum Initial File Load Size: 40 KB
  • Maximum Animation Length: 15 seconds
  • Labeling Requirements: Ad unit content must be clearly distinguishable from normal webpage content (i.e. ad unit must have clearly defined borders and not be confused with normal page content).
  • Ad Performance / Tracking: Click and impression tracking is not available. Client packages furnished with tracking codes may not implement correctly on this platform.
  • Click-Through URL: Please provide the URL you would like your ad to link to.
  • Proofs: Proofs will not be provided for client supplied ads, so please ensure that your ad is correct and error-free before submission.
TheChicagoDoctor.com produces JPG web ads only. We do not design animated GIFs or Flash ads. If we will be designing a JPG web ad for you, please use the following guidelines when sending your ad materials.

  • Photos / Images: High resolution JPG, 300 dpi. Low resolution images retrieved from the internet will not be accepted.
  • Logos / Line Art: Must be vector EPS or SVG files. Create outlines on all type. Low resolution images retrieved from the internet will not be accepted.
  • Text: Provide the text you would like included on your ad.
  • Click-Through URL: Please provide the URL you would like your ad to link to.

Design Fees: Design fees will be determined based upon materials supplied and item to be designed. Fees include the design of one content placement from client-supplied materials and one revision. Additional changes, new designs, or changes to existing content will be billed per hour at an agreed upon rate; you will be notified of additional costs prior to changes being made.

Proofs: Proof approvals are required for all content that is designed by TheChicagoDoctor.com. If approval cannot be obtained before the scheduled start date of campaign, placement may be delayed until the next month. You will be notified ahead of time if this occurs.

Final ad artwork or ad materials should be emailed to Laura Swanson or sent via file sharing apps (Dropbox, Hightail, etc.).
Ad materials for web ads are due 10 days prior to the ad’s launch date. For example, if your ad is scheduled to begin on May 1, we must receive your ad materials no later than April 21.

Video Content on Website

Prices are determined by the length of the video with limit of 15 minutes. You may furnish your own video to be used or we can recommend video producers. For further information, please email us or call 312.488.1050.

Pricing will vary depending upon length of video, so please contact us for a custom quote. If you have an existing video on YouTube, Vimeo, etc., please provide the URL to the video so we can retrieve the embed code. If you will be producing your own video and/or it is not currently posted online, please use the following guidelines when preparing your video.

  • Accepted File Formats:  MP4, MPEG, MOV, AVI, MKV (h.264), WebM, WMV, 3GP, FLV, SWF. If your video is in another format, please convert to one of these formats with Freemake Video Converter. NOTE: MP4 is recommended. Poor quality playback can happen with some FLV, WMV HD, 3GP and SWF videos.
  • Resolution: For quality playback, HD is recommended.
  • Aspect Ratio: Files should always be sent or uploaded in the aspect ratio in which they were shot. (Pillar boxing will be automatically created by YouTube).
  • Frame Rate: Content should be encoded and uploaded in the same frame rate it was recorded. Common frame rates include: 24, 25, 30 48, 50 and 60 frames per second (other frame rates are also acceptable). Interlaced content should be deinterlaced before uploading. Example: 1080i60 content should be deinterlaced to 1080p30, going from 60 interlaced fields per second to 30 progressive frames per second.
  • Codec: H.264 preferred, MPEG-4
  • Bitrate: Videos should be better optimized for resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate rather than bitrate.
  • Audio: MP3 or AAC; 44.1Hz sampling rates; the higher bitrate possible, but no less than 192 kbps
  • Video Length: Video length limited to 15 minutes or less.

Classified Ads

Basic 60-Day Listing: 100 words plus logo on website for 60 days

When submitting a classified ad, please supply the following:

  • Contact Information: Contact person, email address, phone number, city, state, and website
  • Price: Price of your item, if applicable
  • Details: Limited to 500 characters (approximately 100 words) for a Basic 60-Day Listing
  • Logo: JPG or PNG file; for best quality display, upload file should be 640px x 480px

Your classified will run in the next scheduled issue of the paper and online for 60 days. For your newspaper classified ad, we will require you to send your logo as a vector EPS or SVG file. Create outlines on all type. Low resolution images retrieved from the internet will not be accepted. Send logo to Laura Swanson.

Article Reprints

Using your article and photos, we will design and print a brochure or flyer for your company.

If you are running an article or news release in the newspaper, please use the following guidelines when sending your materials. We do not offer photography as a service so you will need to provide your own photos. However, if you require a writer, please contact us.

  • Photos / Images: High resolution JPG, 300 dpi; include photographer credit / copyright information (if applicable). Please send all images separately (not placed in a Word file). Low resolution images retrieved from the internet will not be accepted. See photo limits below.
  • Logos / Line Art: Must be vector EPS or SVG files. Create outlines on all type. Please send all images separately (not placed in a Word file). Low resolution images retrieved from the internet will not be accepted.
  • Text: Microsoft Word file; include headline, article content, author byline (if applicable). See word counts below.
  • Contact Information: Include addresses, phone numbers, contacts, email addresses, and website.
  • Social Media: If you would like us to include social media icons in your article, just let us know which ones to include. Your article will also be posted to TheChicagoDoctor.com, so please include the URLs to your social media pages.
  • QR Codes: You may include QR Codes in your article. Send us your QR code or the URL that you want the QR Code to link to, and we will generate one for you.

WORD COUNTS / PHOTO LIMITS
Photo size in your layout will depend on the word count of your article. For larger photos, use the lower word count.

  • 1-page: 250-500 words, 1-2 photos
  • 2-page: 500-750 words, 2-4 photos
  • 4-page: 750-1000 words, 4-8 photos
  • 6-page: 1000-1500 words, 6-12 photos
After the newspaper issue is mailed, we will begin production on your reprint.

  • Size: The finished size of all brochures is 8.5” x 11”.
  • Color: Full color, printed on both sides with the exception of the 1-page flyer which is printed on one side only.
  • Paper: 10 pt gloss cover stock
  • Finish: UV finish
  • Quantities: 500, 1000, 2000, 3000; for different quantities, please contact us for a custom quote.
  • Delivery: You can expect delivery within 5-10 days after your reprint is approved.
